In people with psoriasis, a type of cell, called T cells reacts to healthy skin cells from an infection and attacks them. This immune response results in psoriasis symptoms.

Psoriasis is a chronic disease that can vary in severity, from mild irritation to completely disabling. Fortunately, there are many treatments available to help erase psoriasis.

How to Clear Psoriasis?

1- Bathe every day to remove scales, soothe inflamed skin, and help erase psoriasis. Add colloidal oatmeal or Epsom salts to the bath water to help soothe inflammation. Avoid using strong soaps and very hot water.

2- Use a moisturizer after bath to reduce symptoms and relieve itching. Oil-based moisturizers can be most effective when the skin is very dry during the cold

3- Look for the possible triggers of psoriasis. In some cases, infections, allergies, sun exposure, stress and allergies can trigger or worsen psoriasis. Avoiding these triggers will help erase psoriasis and prevent future outbreaks.

4- Use a cream with topical corticosteroids to clear mild to moderate psoriasis. Topical steroids are the most commonly used medications for mild psoriasis and work by suppressing the immune system and slowing down cell renewal. Topical steroids are also effective in reducing inflammation and relieving itching.

5- Apply a synthetic form of vitamin D to reduce cell growth and help improve psoriasis. Calcipotriene is an analogue vitamin D cream available with a prescription. These medications are often used in combination with phototherapy.

6- Try other topical treatments for psoriasis, if steroids and vitamin D analogues do not disappear psoriasis. Athralin will help normalize cellular DNA activity and remove skin flakes.

Topical retinoids help to normalize DNA activity and reduce inflammation and coal tar reduces inflammation and helps with flaking and itching. Calcineurin and salicylic acid inhibitors are other topical treatments to help psoriasis cleanse.

7- Undergo light therapy to treat moderate cases of psoriasis. Light therapy or phototherapy uses natural or artificial ultraviolet light to remove T cells from the skin. This helps erase psoriasis by decreasing cell turnover and reducing the scale.

The American Academy of Dermatology says that phototherapy sessions may be needed several times a week for four weeks or more before the symptoms improve.

8- Take an oral medication to clarify the most serious cases of psoriasis. Oral retinoids, methotrexate, cyclosporine and hydroxyurea are prescribed for the treatment of psoriasis in patients who do not respond to topical or phototherapy treatment.

Injectable immunomodulatory drugs, such as etanercept, are useful for people with resistant psoriasis and people with psoriatic arthritis. These drugs work by blocking the interactions between various cells of the immune system.
